I didn't save that info, but it's not spectacular. I think two bits of Scaled Avatar gear and a Tae Ew shield were my best items.\n\n=== Gates of Discord ===\n\nAbout the time GoD rolled out, I joined a Euro-time raiding guild (Dayraiders), and got lots of P1/P2 PoTime drops that were sub-standard for everone else, most of whom had been raiding since server start, and already had great raid gear from SoV, SoL, and PoP.\n\n==== Gear ====\n\nHere's the gear I wound up with just before OoW rolled out. No power sources yet, and with limited play time outside of raids, my charm was only 6hp, so I didn't list it. Note that most items are, at this point, still un-augmented, and the stats below do not include augment values. Information was hard to find, and I wound up with (figuratively) hundreds of little notes about how or where to do what in-game, including hand-drawn and printed-out maps. As I collected this info, I decided to post it online so that others would not have to reinvent the wheel. That evolved into Samanna.net, the class forums and plenty of game information.\n\nAfter having raided through Prophecy of Ro (2006) and played casually into The Buried Sea (2007), my work and income changed drastically, and I had to stop playing and eventually even let the site go and the domain expire. \n\nFast forward to December, 2022, and the urge to play returned. Most of the advice for new or returning players that I could find essentially said:\n\n# Start a new character.\n# Do the tutorial and beginning quests.\n# Take Defiant Armor as it drops.\n# Get only the most important spells (and later AAs) every 5-10 levels.\n# Get to within ~20% of max level (at this writing, max level is 120 and people are advised not to focus on gearing up until the 80s).,\n# Get to max level and then grind a '''LOT''' of AAs (at this writing, there are four characters on Magelo tied with 74,377 AAs).\n\nThat's all well and good, and I understand that getting from 1 to 100 may only take a month or two, but there were still many questions not easily answered - to some extent due to updates causing conflicting information.\n\nSince writing that, I've given up boxing in live and now I just play an Iksar Shaman on Yelinak.\n\nSo, again, this guide will be primarily for me, and I'll probably grow it as my experience grows.
