This is a page for me to log EverQuest info as a returning player, having taken a hiatus from 2009 to 2022.

I grouped from Velius through Luclin, raided from Luclin through Prophecy of Ro, and solod/grouped during The Serpent's Spine - all on my Barbarian Shaman, Samanna. I was even an SOE Community Rep, ran the Shaman (and later also Paladin) class forums, and Sony flew me to San Diego a couple of times. It looks like various group-mob dropped Defiant gear will be the best possible option to L75, followed by a new set every 15 levels or so. I'll see when I get there.

Made a new Barbarian Shaman, Samannagain this past weekend. I grouped with Bobby, an old 'Chanter friend from back in the day who has been playing on and off ever since. It's good to have someone who can explain the changes to both the virtual word and the interface. I did some Tutorial quests, some Crescent Reach quests, and the first Plane of Knowledge non-visible armor quest (Blackburrow).

Ding 13. Daily quests start at L20.

Oops, PL'd to L40, so I started a three-box pet group also on FV:

• Samenna, Iksar Shaman
• Saminna, Iksar Necromancer
• Samonna, Dark Elf Magician

Ding 9 on the alts, about to head to Crescent Reach.

Got all three to level 51 over the holidays.

Starting LDONs, but all the info online about getting the Wayfarer's Stone is conflicing and inaccurate. I can get adventures easily, but I cannot seem to get the Adventurer's Stone or use the Magi.

I'm also confused about how to improve the mercenaries - I'm still using the ones from the tutorial. They do seem to be getting AAXP, though.

Having had problems in LDONs with wide agro mobs and wipes, I've decided to give in to my initial urge to run an Iksar Shadow Knight as well. Shojito made it L20 this week, and now I see why Ogres are awesome - I didn't realize how often tanks get stunned. However, I will continue with this family of Iksars, and probably just level the Magician to summon pet equipment. Also, WTF - SK pets don't accept weapons!?

I've FINALLY found some good info online for Shamans (spellsets, tactics, which spells and abilities to actually use), and I have decided to reboot a version of my old Reference Desk (with pages for new/returning players in general, and also some for the clases (SMH, SHD, NEC) that I will be playing. This will be a guide for getting UP TO current tier content, although who knows how long it will take me to get there at my new, casual-ish rate?

Got the SK to 52 in Velk's Lab; Shm and Nec are each 54. Will put all to 100% AA at 55 and group some with a RL friend, hopefully. Much fun!
